[lbo-talk] Former Soviet republics agree on economic union

Leaders of the four former Soviet republics of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus 
and Ukraine met at the Black Sea resort of Yalta this week to discuss the 
further development of mutual economic ties and to sign a landmark agreement 
on establishing a single economic space between their states. In the 
framework of the summit Vladimir Putin also held a series of bilateral 
meetings with his counterparts.

At the CIS summit on Thursday leaders of the four former Soviet republics 
announced their decision to sign an agreement on creating a single economic 
space between their states. The four presidents praised the job done by 
their governments that paved the way for the agreement.
