I would like to add that I do think there is a lot of demonization, not just of the Israeli state, but of the Israeli population, a large percentage of which seems to be in favor of aggressive and irrational measures taken against the Palestnians. I would submit that living it an atmosphere of occasional random bombings does not encourage pacific, reasoned thinking. I live in a city with suicide bombings, and I can attest that it is not conducive to keeping a cool head. You had better believe that when I see somebody suspicious-looking on the metro, I get out of the damn wagon. Indeed, if the government decided to round up and ship out the Chechen population of Moscow (about 200,000 people), over half of the population of the city would probably be in favor of it, what with that instinct of self-preservation thing and all.

It really does stand out in the annals of bad geopolitical ideas. That said, b) as Israel DOES (unfortunately) exist, obviously its inhabitants have the right to exist. I think it is silly to talk about a _state_ having a "right" to exist.

I think there is a lot of confusion between a and b.
