Yes, of course. I think Pacifica is an invaluable resource that's not being used to its best advantage. Radio licenses in five metro areas are precious assets, and we're not getting the political returns from them them that we should be. Why is that "ragging"?

Samori Marksman, the late WBAI program director who gave me my show, told me about that takeover scheme long before it became public knowledge. I've been following the thing for years. Don't tell me I don't know very much about it.

I described it as Manichean because, as bad as the "coupsters" were, it promoted a complacency among the old guard: all we have to do is to return to the status quo ante bellum and all will be well. I saw this with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears.

These are thoroughly false oppositions. I think dissidence should be held to high standards - we should be smart, informed, articulate, and appealing. Holding out a microphone and broadcasing the unfiltered voices of "the community," like some slice of audio verite, is none of thsoe things.
