Joanna suggest that: "My guess is that it is possible to eat healthily on that amount of money -- if one eats a more spartan diet. Brown rice, potatoes, fruit, pasta, veggies, eggs, otameal, the cheaper meats, etc. It's important to stay away from prepared foods (laden with bad chemicals) and packaged foods (additional expense).....with the exception of Ramen." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Check the Sodium content of ramen... the last package I looked at contained 100% of it's RDA per serving, and that packet contained two servings.

The brand I was looking at was one of the standards... there may some variance between brands. but I suspect not too much difference.

"The presidential election, according to their [U.S.] standards, are inadmissible for us. If we had staged an election like they did in the United States, we would have been crushed a long time ago." -- Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka, 4 November 2004 Commenting on U.S.election standards.

Well, it's true if you follow Deborah's advice. Yoshie brought up the "what can socialists write about" issue. Here's one. How to eat a healthy diet on $150/month. 50 page pamphlet with recipies, sample diets with calorie counts...

My guess is that it is possible to eat healthily on that amount of money -- if one eats a more spartan diet.
