******************************************************* http://www.energybulletin.net/print.php?id=3647 Methane Burps: Ticking Time Bomb

The recent report by the Arctic Council re drastic weather changes in the Arctic is already scary, but it left out one huge problem. As the region warms, methane trapped in the tundra soil will get released into the atmosphere, and methans is 30 times as strong in promoting global warming as is CO2. The tundra contains 3000 times as much methane as does the atmosphere. As the methane gets released, warming is accentuated, resulting in more being released, which leads to a runaway effect which twice in the last billion years caused a near catastrophic destruction of life on the planet. This is something we cannot afford to play with.

===== ******************************************************************* "Under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main sources of information (press, radio, education). It is thus extremely difficult, and indeed in most cases quite impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of his political rights."
