That makes no sense. "We" - whoever that is really - have limited resources, and should pick our fights wisely. What point is there in directing limited resources against one of the most liberal members of the Senate - esp when the Green candidate is a completely marginal lunatic? I have no problem with a Green running against Schumer in New York - I'd probably vote for him or her, in fact. I'd love to see Greens running against the Dem hacks who dominate the NYC Council too. But running against Wellstone seems like a waste of time at best.
