There's been no sign whatsoever of a progressive, violent resistance. The
groups engaged in violent resistance appear to be uniformly led by
reactionaries of one stripe or another. (Which isn't to say that the
disenchantment of ordinary Iraqis doesn't matter. It does. Among other
things, it pushes many Iraqis into the arms of the reactionaries--the
resulting embrace is, I suspect, uncomfortable for all parties, including
the folks who get blown up as a result.)
