Blair Witch Trial? Drat, galloping cluelessness. Make that, B.W. *Project*.

The one other hopeful factor is America's broad susceptibility to Attention Deficit Disorder. Launching a new Inquisition is something that would take real stick-to-itiveness, not something US-ers have in abundance these days. The nation is clearly bored with the agony of Iraq; it's reasonable to suppose it will get bored with the agony of Jesus soon, too. Essentially, the country's motto should be, "Whatever" -- that can be a source of comfort as well as dismay.
