Why is it so dumb? The Bible describes Christ as having features such as "hair of wool and skin of bronze." That is not a description of a Caucasian. In this film Christ is portrayed as having silky brown hair and blue eyes. In George Steven's The Greatest Story Ever Told, Christ is played by a Swede -- Max Von Sydow.
This type of racial erasure is insulting and promotes racism.
Elizabeth Taylor can play Cleopatra (and she can be surrounded by black servants/slaves), but everyone would be up in arms if Angela Bassett played the Queen of England.
Why is it okay for whites to play non-white roles, while people of color can only play people of color? I have seen too many overweight white women as Madame Butterfly, but very few black Mimis.
>Actually, I prefer People of White. "White people" is highly offensive and
a sign that our separate species are still very far apart.
I prefer People of Pale Skin and Mind -- a more accurate description.
