Iraqi police likely to be trained in Egypt: Iraqi interim FM
Agence France-Presse Cairo, December 28
Members of the new Iraqi police force may be trained in Egypt, Iraq's interim Foreign Minister said in Cairo after talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher.
"This issue has been studied and is being considered by the security services and the Iraqi interior ministry," Hoshyar Zebari told reporters on Saturday.
Zebari also said that he had requested constitutional and legal experts from Egypt to help Iraq navigate the handover of power from the US-led coalition ruling the country to Baghdad.
"Egypt is prepared to provide its expertise and work with the Iraqi people to recover their sovereignty as quickly as possible," said Maher, back at work after being assaulted by radical Palestinians in Jerusalem on Monday.
