just wanted to let you know that SIUP officially published a book of mine -- "The World is Watching". The details are here:
http://www.siu.edu/~siupress/titles/f03_titles/redmond_world.htm
Though the focus is on video culture -- specifically, McGoohan's "The Prisoner", Kieslowski's "Decalogue" and Anno's "Evangelion" -- there's lots of stuff in the text concerning the politics of the mass media, the resistance(s) to neoliberalism, EU/East Asian geopolitics, etc. Basically, it's everything you ever wanted to know about the subversive potential of the multinational media, but were afraid to ask.
Apparently, the first run is hardcover only, which makes the book a bit pricey for the budgetarily-challenged. But the free version online will be maintained in perpetuity at <http://www.efn.org/~dredmond/GV.html>.
