Except for standards like conflict of interest, I do not think public defenders necessarily get much choice about their clients. Clark of course is not a public Defender and I think it does take some kind of principle to chase this particular ambulance. As for ANSWER being the international equivalent of the ACLU, suppose ANSWER thinks the ACLU analogy is much too "reformist." ????

As an aside, I have watched a fair number of ANSWER rallies on TV and I have not heard any paeans to Saddam. I have heard some eloquent comments about problems other than Saddam that I would otherwise not have known anything about. Such speakers do not necessarily make totally punchy and inspiring soundbites that middle America can automatically relate to. But that does not mean the WWP is always wrong.

Okay the last time I remember clearly agreeing with some WWP spin on a problem was their analysis of Yeltsin when he first started touring the US, but it could happen again.

Me neither, fortunately or unfortunately. On second thought I think it's my patriotic duty to dissent from my own country's policies when they are wrong. And I do remember long ago writing a letter or two dozen to my Congress people about suggesting that we really ought to stop aiding and abetting Saddam. So if anyone is looking for "aid and comfort" for Saddam as opposed to defense of general principles in this quarter they better KEEP LOOKING.

I am getting close to the posting limit so I promise to try to contain myself.
