For those on the list not familiar with Judts work, I strongly suggest picking up his The Burden of Responsibility: Blum, Camus, Aron, and French Twentieth Century (U. Chicago Press, 1998). The chapter on Blum is of particular interest it provides a wonderful example of Judts intellectual rigor. Read this less than 200 page book and understand why Judts commentary on Israel comes as no surprise.
