There is no "culture war." You can start from a "culture war" notion... but it always bubbles up from local areas of conflict (all of which are valid on ground level) to some larger level... up up up... and, ultimately, there is this plateau... and it's either a war of ideals, or a war of economic realities.
On that plateau, they are really the same, but the rhetoric just depends on what dominant Leviathan you are fighting against.
