If nothing else, Kerry's tall (the tallest among the Democratic candidates?), and in American televisual politics of presidential elections, that seems to count for a lot: "Until 2000, only two out of 12 presidential elections in the television era had been won by the shorter candidate -- Nixon in 1972 and Carter in 1976" (at <http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&node=&contentId=A36966-2003Dec28¬Found=true>).
It's true that "in 2000, a painful time for many, 6-foot-1 Al Gore Jr. lost to 5-foot-11 George W. Bush." (at <http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&node=&contentId=A36966-2003Dec28¬Found=true>), but Gore did with the popular vote, in keeping with the traditional American preference for taller candidates. -- Yoshie
