What surprises me about the article is how blithely its author 
disgards *nationalist* sentiment in Iraq.  He treats it as if
it were only some ornament upon Ba'ath ideology.  If anything,
doesn't the insurgency there show passionate Iraqi nationalism
cuts across Ba'ath/anti-Ba'ath Sunni/Shia categories?
