The question is whether the average viewer/voter can? Academia is full of very intelligent multi-idea people who have zero impact on the way general public thinks. Moore's film had a greater impact because of its simplifications and emotional appeals.

There is an old Sufi proverb "A fool tries to convince me with his arguments, a sage - with my own." Moore is certainly no fool, he knows darn well what arguments his audience consider "their own."
