Smile, say, "Yeah, it's a rough world," do whatever it takes to remain friendly to your neighbor, and spend your energy on someone you have a chance of influencing.
Do you really think there is some way "we" can get all 300 million americans to agree with us? And if we can't get everyone, then isn't the first question to identify those that we can influence? That, incidentally, is a very large and difficult task. Just because we _can_ influence doesn't mean we will unless we work on it. (And we won't work on it if we remain hypnotized by the hard right as this list seems to be.)
