(Somewhat tangentially: I have no doubt that some of the Bushies really did think Iraq II was an important part of the war on terror. For example, from what I've read about what he says in private, it seems pretty clear that Dick Cheney actually believes his crazy public claims about important Saddam/Al Qaeda links.)
