You are apostrophe-challenged, too, but be that as it may.
Both you (and Doug, in another post on this subject) seem a little slow on
the uptake here, so let me go through this again. I'm not talking about
making fun of "everyone who is fat." I'm making fun of Brad DeLong, one of
the nation's Bigfoot (euphemism) Economists. I find it noteworthy when
economists -- high priests of the moderation and prudence that capitalism
counsels to the lowly -- evince hopeless self-indulgence in any way.
Basically, you and Doug would make it impossible for there to be, say,
editorial cartoonists -- because in one way or another editorial cartoonists
all do violence to PC conventions.
But enough. The real reason I've been steaming about BDeL concerns a
gratuitous remark he made in his blog about Barbara Ehrenreich being
"infantile." If anything presents a case of arrested development, it's the
corrupt, liberal economic regime that rules us all -- the regime that Brad
does so much to defend as an economic establishment macher/maven.
So there.
Carl
