The original expensing provisions would have expired on 10 September; the most recent revision (which increased expensing to 50% of the basis of many depreciation classes) pushed that date back to 31 December. So far this year, the GOP has been loathe to try another extension, lest its economic stimulus seem to be less stimulative than originally claimed.
