[lbo-talk] Why isn't Kerry surging past Bush right now?

Fahrenheit 9/11 has surpassed pretty much anyone's
expectation re: audience draw; Kerry chose the popular
Ralph Edwards as his running mate; and the DNC is
afoot in Boston [which, incidentally, Al Jazeera is
covering 4 hours per day, more than any US-based
network]. Isn't this the kind of triple bump that
should give Kerry a commanding lead over Bush in
polls?
But, if anything, Bush is gaining ground. What the
hell?
Is it possible that F 9/11 is only reaffirming the
views of those who had already decided against Bush,
and that swing-type voters basically forget the movie
a few weeks after they've seen it when they are back
to immersing themselves in mainstream media reports
about Bush, which make him see not-so-bad-after-all?
Let's admit it, Kerry is doing horribly at this point.
I'd think his numbers would look better right about
now.
