Moscow calls for urgent talks between Georgia, S.
Ossetia
MOSCOW. July 30 (Interfax) - Russia is calling on
Georgia and the self-proclaimed republic of South
Ossetia to immediately begin talks to resolve their
conflict, says a Russian Foreign Ministry press
release issued on Friday. 

"Moscow hopes that restraint and reason will prevail.
Talks need to be launched immediately, and all
problems should be resolved by peaceful political
methods," the document says. 

Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Valery
Loshchinin met with South Ossetian leader Eduard
Kokoity earlier today, the Foreign Ministry said.
