Funny, I feel that way about many of the conservative Christian women in my classes who insist that all feminists are lesbian man haters (they look at me dumbstruck when I explain to them I'm a feminist: how can a man be a feminist?).

A simple (but crucial) point: being a member of an oppressed group doesn't necessarily mean you know what the hell's going on. --And similarly: being a member of a privileged group does not necessarily mean you're clueless about the mechanisms of oppression. It's a lot like solving differential equations in math class: if a reasonably intelligent person spends enough time and puts enough effort into learning about oppression, she'll get it.
