Like Doug, I don't think that "What's wrong with _them_?" is the first question that leaps to mind about people we kidnapped and detained and (possibly tortured) without charges or representation for several years. Many of those detained and abused may be fundamentalists whose beliefs are appalling. I wasn't aware that liberals thought that having appalling beliefs meant that they forfeited their basic rights.

This story is not, however, credible. I would believe reports of physical abuse (beating, electroshock, hanging from handcuffs, and so forth), sleep deprivation, bright lights all the time, etc. We know the US does these things. But this particular complaint is unlike any "torture" I ever heard of, far too imaginative for Americans, and inconsistent with American puritanism. It sounds like a mysogynistic fantasy.
