Hmm. Funny, I had the same impression as you.

You could look up Hitchens' book and backtrack from there. I'd give you the titles of critical pieces from the left, but I'm away from my books at the moment. The book is called Why Orwell Matters, and the relevant chapter is titled "Orwell and the Left", or something similar.

Hitchens writes on "the list" later in his book. His zeal for Orwell gets the better of him, and he tries to exonerate his hero.
