If I recall correctly it was the bioprospecting of Shaman Pharmaceuticals --which had DMT enthusiast and anarchist Terence McKenna's brother Dennis -impeccable science credentials- on the board -- that sparked popular consciousness in the US on the issue in the early nineties.
