LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The combined might of Jesus and Mel Gibson (news) was no match for a plague of ravenous zombies at the weekend box office in North America.
Dawn of the Dead, a remake of George Romeros 1978 cult horror, grabbed the No. 1 slot in its first weekend by selling a better-than-expected $27.3 million worth of tickets, according to studio estimates issued on Sunday.
