So you're a fan of tyranny with a socialist face?  I can imagine saying 
that
some particular socialist tyrannies were worth supporting, given the 
likely
alternatives.

Most people in the former Soviet Union are very, very upset that the USSR no longer exists. That cuts across political boundaries: _everybody_ except hardcore nationalists (and Balts) think breaking up the Union was a bad bad bad thing, Communists, liberals, everybody. It was a catastrophe.
 
The post-Stalin USSR was not a tyranny. It was a mildly authoritarian, more-or-less benign one-party state.
