This analogy goes even further than you might think, too. All Red Sox fans cling to the glorious memory of that home run at the end of Game 6. But in the end, the Sox still lost the World Series. And that's what counts, right? It's sort of like Bush and the occupation apologists whining about how the media is not paying enough attention to all the great "accomplishments" of the occupation: getting a water line running here, cobbling together some pissant local election for dogcather there. Meanwhile, the US is losing. They just can't handle it.
