That would be funny, but making a ruckus on this issue is a win-win situation for all of us (whether we supported John Kerry or Ralph Nader or David Cobb or whomever), regardless of whether the recount will change the electoral winner in Ohio (if the recount happens at all, that is -- against all odds).
If John Kerry and the Democratic Party refuse to demand a recount, the refusal will expose their commitment to bipartisan plutocracy more clearly than ever in the eyes of all outraged activists in Ohio and other states who care about voting rights.
If John Kerry and the Democratic Party get compelled to demand a recount due to pressures of activists in Ohio and elsewhere, it will help put George W. Bush's so-called "mandate" into question.
If John Kerry demands and gets a recount, wins Ohio, and takes the electoral college majority, the next POTUS will be weaker than if Bush won both the popular vote and the electoral college fair and square.
The ruckus will give the Ohio Green Party a chance to raise its profile and be seen as the only party that actually cares about voting rights -- if the Greens know enough to exploit the ruckus to its advantage, that is. (I've told the Ohio Greens all ways that they can do this if they want.)
So, call, email, and fax the Democratic Party and demand that it get off its ass! -- Yoshie
