Oy vey 'sez ex-Catholic philo-Semite by inference, Pugliese, isn't that retitled subject line ridiculous? Who even implied that McKinney was at all sympatico with a killer of Kurds or Bosnian and Kosovar Muslims?

"There is something about this issue that drives too many lefties round the bend, btw."

Brad>...Must be because they are "really" antisemites, huh? I know you didn't say that, but....

When I went to the big anti-war demos hegemonized by ANSWER last yr. and see, at several of the marches, the following types of behavior, yes, I do think that in a small but not insignificant sectors of The Movement (not in any of the ISM members, btw, I've spoken to, tabling at demos, indeed, the two or three ISM reps at meetings at the AFSC office on Sixth St. in S.F. of UfPJ, were quite vocal in opposing the misrepresentations and demogogy of a staffer, A.W., of a Berkeley pro-Palestinian org., "If Americans Knew, " who in face to face and e-mail exchanges w/ me and others, the tenor and content of which led to believe A.W. hates Jews) there are those who harbor an animus against Jews rooted in classical anti-semitic ideology. Kaffiyeh clad twenty-something running from a table at an ANSWER anti-war march shouting, "Fuck the Jews, I want to kill them!" Placards in S.F. (and many more at the big 100K, 2003 ANSWER led pro-Palestinian demo see the cover of an issue of Washington Report on Middle East Affairs afterwards) w/ the offensive star of david = nazi swastika. The 2003 ruckus at S.F. State http://www.indybay.org/news/2002/05/128582.php with the Jews=Nazis placards and this particularly repugnant poster, http://www.indybay.org/uploads/close-up_of_sfsu_flyer.jpgb10878.jpg . Marchers passing out leaflets at the ANSWER demos, without argument, that reprint Holocaust Denialist material from Roger Garaudy, http://www.radioislam.org/garaudy/english/ . Trotskyist magaszines http://www.socialistviewpoint.org/ published in S.F. with the largesse of an Apple co-founder that has repeatedly published Israel Shamir, a man who has said, "We must listen to voices of those like David Duke, " despite having had pointed out to cadre of their org. that I know, that Palestinian and Jewish leftists here http://nigelparry.com/issues/shamir/ , have published abundent polemic on Shamir's anti-semitism.

"Palestinians, absolutely need more voices in Congress. Effective ones.McKinney isn't it."

Brad>...Pious promises. McKinney ain't the sharpest tool in the shed, but the Palestinians don't have _any_

voices in Congress, or much of anywhere else in the USA. And they will continue to not have any voice, smart, dumb or otherwise, so long as the AIPAC-neocon hit squads are on the prowl.

That's the real problem, not "antisemitism".

-Brad Mayer

David Bonior, for one, certainly was. As progressive on this as he was in fighting Contra aid in the 80's. http://www.islamonline.net/english/News/2002-04/23/article44.shtml

>...American Muslims, Arabs and pro-Palestinian activists have been lobbying Congressional members in the hopes of dissuading support fro the resolutions when and if they are introduced to the House floor to be voted on.

They are lobbying strongly in favor of a counter resolution introduced into Congress by Representative Peter DeFazio (D-OR) on April 18 2002, calling for an Israeli withdrawal from all Palestinian territories. H.R. 394, calling for, "an immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops from Palestinian cities," http://www.islamonline.net/english/News/2002-04/23/article40.shtml http://www.endtheoccupation.org/article.php?id=75 >... RES. 394

Expressing grave concern about the continuing escalation in violence between Israel and the Palestinians.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

APRIL 18, 2002

Mr. DEFAZIO (for himself, Mr. HINCHEY, Mr. STARK, Mr. RAHALL, Mr. FARR of California, Mr. DINGELL, Mr. KUCINICH, Mr. ISSA, Mr. SNYDER, Ms. LEE, Ms. WOOLSEY, and Mr. MEEKS of New York) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on International Relations...

Yes, far, far from the lock-step for AIPAC in the Congress, but, "don't have any."??? -- Michael Pugliese
