As I just said to Kelley offlist, the hetmen not getting turned on puzzles me, but as noted sometimes a Lolita is just a Lolita, and this may have more to do with commodity fetishes than sexual ones.

LOL, ain't that the truth. Nothing like turning up with a paring knife at an intellectual sword fight (this is all getting oddly Freudian). I guess my point, apart from trying to ram my morality down everyone's throat, was that if you're looking for an explanation for this there are broader cultural elements of Japanese culture you can link it to (IMHO) than imputing it from almost 10 years of economic agnst.
