Have to agree with Carl on this one. How many students get out of High School knowing how to do anything? How many know a language reasonably well? How many have a good grasp of mathematics and science? How many know basic carpentry? They come out of High School with nothing but air. If they are lucky, that may be remedied by University, but often times they come out of University with nothing but air. If they are lucky enough to be from a middle class family, they may end up with the fate of all mediocre middle class youngsters...as a manager over operations about which they dont have a fucking clue.

I dont know what all the reasons are for this. It's not that Americans are inherently stupid...and it cant ALL be blamed on lack of educational funding since this problem also afflicts middle class communities.

===== The real world gives the subset of what is; the product space represents the uncertainty of the observer. The product space may therefore change if the observer changes; and two observers may legitimately use different product spaces within which to record the same subset of actual events in some actual thing. The "constraint" is thus a relation between observer and thing; the properties of any particular constraint will depend on both the real thing and on the observer. It follows that a substantial part of the theory of organization will be concerned with properties that are not intrinsice to the thing but are relational between observer and thing.
