No, it's just that mainstream psychology tends to study just a few aspects of human subjectivity, i.e. family relationships, life-crises and professional identities, things like that. That's why any psychological study of reality needs to be qualified by history, sociology, cultural studies, etc. (The reverse is also true. Any sociology which doesn't have a profound understanding of what motivates human beings won't be very effective at explaining the organization of human society.)
