This is another stupid statement -- you should be comforted, and the cheap irony is as stupid an act as the initial statement.
Do you really think that intlligent people never make stupid statements. The joy of the dozen or so fellow students that spent a lot of time with in Ann Arbor was the we could call each others's statements stupid without there an implication as to the person making the statement.
One of the reasons that motive mongering is so destructive of decent politics and contribute so to a stupid intellectual atmosphere is this equivalence of the statement with the being of the speaker/writer.
