Who wasn't a Stalin apologist? The transcripts of Stalin's meetings with H.G. Wells, George Bernard Shaw and Ludwig Feuchtwanger were released recently. I haven't read them, but supposedly they were all in awe of Stalin.

Since the famine is up there in Ukrainian national consciousness with driving out the Poles in the 17th century, certainly something pretty aweful happened.
