What exactly do mean by genetic factor, a specific gene associated with bipolar? It's certainly not the only mental illness shown to have a genetic component, a number of mental disorders show a significant heritable contribution, for example some studies have placed ADD/ADHD as being more heritable than height. Are you more generally trying to make the point that genes usually don't cause diseases, they only predispose people to be more susceptible to them?
