Obviously Carroll can speak for himself, but this was sort of my point: Carroll wrote on Feb. 15: "I've even decided to let my 35-year grudge against the Weather people subside into silence. Leftists should not spend their time being apologetic." http://squawk.ca/lbo-talk/0502/1146.html

And the recent comments regarding terrain, with which I basically agree, seem to indicate understanding rather than antipathy: "There will ALWAYS be worse things than any of these. Get used to it or get out of the kitchen. It's simply the terrain that leftists or left organizations have to operate on, and it is silly to caterwaul about it"

And perhaps I differ from Carroll here, but I read this as a statement that the people who annoy me aren't going away, and perhaps aren't the detractors I fear them to be. Hell, at this rate we're all going to be labeled provocateurs sooner or later, whether we're additionally deemed "caterwaulers" or anything else.
