My proposal for a moratoruum on foreclosures on homes was qualified by a clause "if a perfect storm hits," which hasn't hit the United States yet. One hit Argentina, though. When that happened, Argentine workers elected Nestor Kirchner, who, among other things. "endorsed a moratorium on single-family home foreclosures -- a move that defied IMF criteria for debt restructuring but bought breathing room for many of the 250,000 homeowners on the verge of default" (Carol J. Williams, "IMF May Ease Its Stance on Argentine Debt," Los Angeles Times, July 19, 2003, <http://www.globalpolicy.org/socecon/bwi-wto/imf/2003/0719debt.htm>). Why shouldn't American workers embrace the same measure if they experience something similar to Argentine workers? After all, the American dream is home ownership. We'll present ourselves as defenders of the American dream! -- Yoshie
