[lbo-talk] cushy life/strict equality

Well, I am so pleased that there are no difficulties with socialist incentives. Here is what I have learned today:

(1) Everyone will work just as hard, or hard enough, regardless of their remuneration out of pride in their work and solidarity and love for others because we are cooperative by nature;

(2) And if they don't no one will care, because people resent inequality much worse than they resent free-riding, and anyway there is just as much free-riding today as there would be under an equal remuneration system, and people don't mind (that much). Better that the goof-oofs just stay home and let the rest of -- us? -- support them. Presuming none of us to be among the goof-offs, of course. Everyone will see it that way.

And apparently I, as a leftist, am supposed to tell these things with a straight face to skeptics (that is, the people we might hope to win over to our point of view) and expect them to believe it.

I guess the level of fantasy around here really makes me wonder what people have been smoking. It does help explain why we are not getting anywhere, though.

jks
