Have you read nothing about the Afghan war, the 80's mujahedeen, the CIA, KSA, the PRC/CCP (See the John Cooley book on al-Quaeda, published by Pluto, blurbed by Edward Said, for the chapter on the PRC/CCP assistance, military and economic to the anti-Soviet Afghan mujahedeen), and the Pakistani intelligence service? Not that I'm asking you to slog through (a very readable, but, long text), "Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001, " by Steve Coll of the WaPo.
