Wall Street Journal - July 5, 2005 Their Will Be Done By ROBERT H. BORK To restore the Court's integrity will require a minimum of three appointments of men and women who have so firm an understanding of the judicial function that they will not drift left once on the bench. Choosing, and fighting for, the right man or woman to replace Justice O'Connor is the place to start. That will be difficult, but the stakes are the legitimate scope of self-government and an end to judicially imposed moral disorder. <<<<<>>>>>

bork has written above article - and several books - a gazillion times since his nomination to u.s. supreme court in late 80s was denied...

about fifteen years i had misfortune of being at meeting where bork spoke on above topic, blathered on and on and on about judicial restraint, of course bork is really judicial activst draped in robe of judicial restraint, his actual purpose being to advance conservative ideology from high court...

anyway, he finally finished speaking and said that he would field questions, there were probably no more than 20 people in the room, i was third person to ask question and asked about judicial activism of turn-of-twenty-century court that routinely struck down - mostly state - laws limiting length of workday, establishing minimum wage, setting workplace safety standards, recognizing labor unions, etc (never mind that such matters were/are moral ones)...

bork looked at his watch, turned to a handler, handler said time was up, didn't realize how fast it had gone in having so much fun (he didn't actually say that), and that 'judge' had plane to catch, smoke may as well have been coming out of bork' ears, other folks in room were none to pleased with me... michael hoover -------------------------------------------------------------- Please Note: Due to Florida's very broad public records law, most written communications to or from College employees regarding College business are public records, available to the public and media upon request.
