I find it interesting how quickly Solzhenitsin's star faded from the sky of Westerners after their erstwhile "conscience of Russia" during the Cold War denounced American culture as soulless, said that Yeltsin was worse than the Communists and said that the bombing of Serbia was an abomination.

While I'm at it, what is up with these silly Western denouncements of 200 Years Together as being "an attempt to cover up earlier accusations in the West that Sol is an anti-Semite." Excuse me, but Sol does not give a fuck what people in the West think, and he has a rep for speaking directly. If he were an anti-Semite, he would say so loudly and proudly. Indeed, that would probably improve his cachet in Russia.

Barf. Westerners see anti-Semites under their beds.
