Indian Beauty Inspires Barbie July 10, 2005 13:6 IST
A new range of Barbie Dolls, inspired by the style of former Miss World and Bollywood film star Aishwarya Rai will hit the stands and High streets of Britain soon.
The dolls are based on the looks and style of the doe eyed diva, and is being imported to the UK from India, by Sai Mir, Managing director of Mir media a noted designer house in Britain.
Aishwarya's style and looks along with the essence of her character in the Movie Devdaas is what triggered the ingenious new range, and after having been voted the 9th most beautiful woman in the world, by a poll in the July issue of Harpers & Queen, Ash (as better known in India) seemed to be the perfect model to be emulated by the long time favorite Barbie.
Aishwarya was also recently honored by the Netherlands, which named a special variety of Tulip Flowers after her.
The Indian Barbie Collection features looks and costumes from all corners of the country, with the dolls dressed in traditional garb of rich silks and embroideries in the true Indian style of grandeur. There is also an Indian Diva collection, dressed in the latest chic ethnic Kurtas.
Mir Media has expressed that they hope the new range of Indian styled Barbie will make perfect gifts for Asian women off all ages, saying they would help young Asian girls adopt their culture and heritage in ways the original blue eyed blonde haired creation could never do.
