The Media claims that our shiny new JOTSC comes from the "right leaning" state of Indiana. I went and looked at what the natives are saying about another "hot button" topic.
The Herald Bulletin, Anderson Indiana:
Your very title of this article is an oxymoron (7/19/2005) Thats like George Bush saying,"I want to be known as a peace president". Yeah, right. Where's a good assasin when you need one?
rational thoughts (7/19/2005) We will be fighting this war for the next 100 years. We have created radical Muslims in every corner of the world including our own
real poorgress (7/20/2005) Yessir, real progress: we have a man in custody (Saddam Hussien), who did not want to do anything to tick us off, because he knew he would lose everthing, and then we have the man who has admitted openly, nay, boasted that he was the mastermind and money behind the 9-11 attack, that is still on the loose, still making a joke of us before the world. Maybe he is worshipping the right God after all, and we've got it wrong!

[oped] Progress in Afghanistan and Iraq
Our military presence in Afghanistan and Iraq is certainly under scrutiny as we continue to operate in these nations. Many in the media are beating the drum for withdrawal. It appears to me, such as in Vietnam, the media is beginning to influence the populace incrementally towards this objective.
I acknowledge that we’re in a very challenging situation. However, now that we’re in Afghanistan and Iraq, do we withdraw before positive accomplishment of objectives or do we persist until goals achieved? As one ponders this question, I would ask one to more closely examine the enemy we’re fighting.
There are enemy coming into these nations from outside their borders. Some have sacrificed their lives as suicide bombers. If you withdraw at this time and allow victory for these insurgents, do you think these people will lay down their arms and just go back to their homes content? This kind of decision will probably embolden their efforts for future action elsewhere, and guess where that elsewhere will be?
This is a difficult situation we’re in but realize there has been substantial progress in Afghanistan, and now progress in Iraq. People in Iraq came out in great numbers while risking their lives during their elections. The populace wants a better life. Freedom always demands a price. This is not easy when one considers the mindset of the enemy, but no one said it was going to be easy.
