In PK Dick's book A Maze of Death, he postulates a future in which science has proven the existence of god and the laws that govern the efficacy of prayer (e.g. prayer is more effective outside of a gravity well). They're are special prayer booths you go to that electronically facilitate your appeal to the divine.

(PS isn't this whole supernatural/natural opposition a recent idea? People in the middle ages didn't talk about the supernatural.)
