--------------------------------

"There was no corner of the known world where some interest was not alleged to be in danger or under actual attack. If the interests were not Roman, they were those of Rome's allies. And if Rome had no allies that existed, allies would be invented. The fight was always invested with the order of legality. Rome was always being attacked by evil-minded neighbors." [J. Schumpeter]

Sadly, the US Right has mastered the art of a variety of self-fulfilling prophecies when it comes to large scale social dynamics related to fear and paranoia. Many liberals go along for the ride when it suits their goals as well. We need not elaborate on how a perpetual Schmittian enemy is useful for the military-industrial complex in the US. So an anti-Sinophobia strategy is useful for substantially reducing the Pentagon's plundering of US taxpayers; thus there is a more intelligent path to fiscal responsibility [never mind the argument for a more peaceful world] for leftists to argue for.
