The figures for people insured aren't necessarily usefu l either. My employer just outsourced their administration of temps, and with that you get to buy into their health insurance plans. The cheaper one, $10/week for the employee, covers something like $10K of hospital bills (no surgery, IIRC), and max. $10K for accidents, $5K per accident. You know, like if you break your arm twice in a year. No basic primary care, like doctor's visits. This counts as insurance.

Not to mention that recent survey of bankruptcies due to medical bills -- most of them started out with insurance, too.

Sort of puts a damper of the prospects of building wealth through a mortgage.
