It was Sartre's project in 1950s and 60s to explain individual life (Genet or Flaubert) on the basis of Marxist theory supplemented with sociology and psychoanalyses (Ref.: Sartre's book The Question of Method).

On Freud: There is Sartre's interesting screenplay, Freud Scenario written for Hollywood director John Huston.
